Chibi-arts Prototypes at Tamashii Nation 2011 ♡

So there's a line of figures called chibi-arts, and they make One Piece characters. So far only 3 have been released, but at a recent Tamashii Nation convention they showcased prototypes of possible future releases. Super cute~!! The Princess Shirahoshi figure is adorable! What's not to love about a mermaid with long pink hair? ♡♥

Perona and Zoro!
Two of my three favorite One Piece characters (the other is Chopper~)
Perona is slated for release in March 2012, Zoro is a prototype.

Close up of Zoro, holding a barbequed fish and a mug of beer.
Chibi-arts figures usually come with extra facial expressions and extra arms in different poses, but since this is still a prototype, not sure what the other arms will be holding. But at least one should have swords for sure!

Vivi, Nami, Sanji and Nico Robin. ♡♥
Other than Nami, the rest are prototypes!
(Nami came out in Oct 2011)

Close-up of Sanji, holding a cake with Nami's head :P

Close-up of Nico Robin
Love that's it's the pre-timeskip version, I think her outfit was cuter!

Another favorite character of mine, Chopper! ♡♥
A prototype, looking adorable with the mushroom.

The above pictures were taken during the Tamashii Nation 2011 event last month, where Tamashii Nation, the company (under Bandai, remember, almost all toys are made by Bandai!) that produces the toys, showcased future products. Photography was not allowed for the public, other than the first picture, these pictures came from HobbyStock.

Adorable One Piece chibi-arts ♥

To be honest, other than Chopper, the rest of the One Piece characters aren't very "cute". But chibi-fy them and they become the most adorable things ever! Making something chibi is like rearranging their proportions to give an over-sized head and tiny limbs in proportion to the body.

Anyway, the chibi-arts that have been released so far (and I got my hands on)! Nami, Luffy and Boa Hancock. (Ace comes out later in Dec 2011 btw!)

First out was Boa Hancock in July 2011.

As mentioned, they come with interchangeable faces, limbs, bodies and for Boa Hancock's case, interchangeable hair and legs as well. The limbs are rotatable, and a stand to prop up the figure comes along with the kit.

The "Looking down so much that she's looking up instead" pose.

They even include a bunch of quotes in speech/effect bubbles that you can put on a stand and display together with the figure :D

Then came Luffy in Aug 2011.

Luffy's parts - 3 faces, 3 sets of arms, 2 torsos, 1 set of legs, a hat, a cape, a mug and a drumstick.
Plus a clear stand to prop him up.

I should've given him a more greedy-looking pose by using the inflated stomach body :P

Luffy's captions.

Nami came out end-Oct 2011.

She comes with 3 faces, sets of legs - kneeling and standing,
a few sets of arms and a Clima-tact.

I'm adoring their cuteness and can't wait for the rest to come get released! Hopefully they do get released and not remain as prototypes, and hopefully they get released regularly, and not like one every 2-3 months -.-

AFA 2011 - One Piece Cosplay

There were lots and lots of people cosplaying at the Anime Festival Asia (AFA) 2011, but I didn't take that many pictures for a variety of reasons: Fighting with the crowds of guys armed with DSLRs forming a human wall; the overcrowdedness; no idea who the people were cosplaying as; and the cosplayers themselves never held their poses/formations for long anyway. So, the ones I mostly took/tried to take were of characters from my beloved One Piece~ ♡

Kaname ☆ cosplaying as Sanji and Usagi as Nami.
Both Shinsekai versions.
This totally made my day~ ♡

Kaname sure makes a convincing Sanji!
I can't tell whether the goatee's real or a stick on though...
But best One Piece cosplayers of the day hands down!

Shinsekai Nami and Sanji figures for comparison.

Anyway, the first ones I actually saw were this group.
Saw them right when I entered: Zoro, Luffy and Boa Hancock. Her hair is real!

Then spotted a (scrawny) Shinsekai Zoro, Shinsekai Luffy and Mr. 3.
Am awed by Mr 3's hair knot thing...like how he got it to stay in place!
Must be his Doru-Doru powers! :O

Shinsekai Zoro and Shinsekai Luffy found themselves a Shinsekai Sanji.

The group finding the rest of the One Piece cosplayers:
Red-haired Shanks and Jewelry Bonney (long pink hair)!
But for some reason this Shanks has both arms intact...

4/7 of the Shichibukai!
Donquixote Doflamingo, Dracule Mihawk, Bartholomew Kuma and Crocodile!

Perona with a horohoro!
Missing the umbrella and Kumashi though!

Old version Nami, with climatact!

Rozen Maiden dolls! (and two random guys)

Saw them again by the One Piece area, the Sabaody Archipelago background.

And those were all the pictures I took of the cosplayers...Kind of sad I didn't spot any Fairy Tail or Hakuouki cosplayers though, or other Mugiwara pirates like Usopp, Nico Robin and Franky. Would've been nice to see an Ace or Marco too! But really glad to have seen an awesome Sanji and Nami! ♡
